Create a housing mentorship program that partners real estate entrepreneurs with inner city youth
Such a program would allow a population traditionally under-represented in the real estate game to learn from those who are already successful at it
While the Office of Single Family Housing expressed enthusiasm about the idea, the major consideration for moving forward would be in terms of resources. While Single Family certainly supports the concept of bringing non-traditional populations into “the real estate game”, a mentorship effort would involve outreach, training, staff time and the like which translates into travel dollars, overtime and/or staff resources. Given overall budget constraints, there might be some difficulty experienced while attempting to embark on a new program without additional resources.
